Back-to-School Night Goes Virtual
Join us for a Zoom Back-to-School night on Thursday, 9/24 at 7:00 pm. Teachers will host meetings for individual classes, and will send Zoom links to parents. This is a great opportunity to hear about what goes on in the classroom, put faces to names for fellow parents, and have your questions answered. Meetings will be recorded so you don’t have to miss anything if you have children in more than one class. Hope to see you there!
Pre-K Digs It
Pre-K has a play-based, emergent curriculum. That means when students are excited about digging, Pre-K teachers Kate and Linda build lessons around the sandbox! Kate and Linda have been burying natural treasures like seashells, rocks, and minerals for their students to dig up. When they find a treasure, students carefully dust it off and use books to identify it. Pre-Kers have also been excavating colorful popsicle sticks with their names written on them. They spent a morning finding their own names and identifying friends’ names. This is a fun way to begin to identify letters.
Won’t You Be my Neighbor?
Feats of Engineering
Science teacher Meg has been embedded with Third and Fourth Grades, and they’ve been taking a deep dive into engineering. Students are exploring shapes that engineers utilize to improve the strength of structures. Using a weak material, paper, students created and built tables that were strong enough to hold heavy books.
A Warm Invitation To Worship
Dear Parents,
The members of the Quaker Meeting Community of Plymouth Monthly Meeting welcome you to the new school year at Plymouth Meeting Friends School. Your children will experience learning in a safe and caring environment that has been prepared carefully by the staff and administration of PMFS during this very busy summer.
We invite all families, especially those who are new to our school, to get to know the Quaker Community that worships here at Plymouth Meeting. You are welcome to join us for worship on the patio behind the Meeting House each Sunday morning at 11:00 am, where we are gathering at a safe distance from one another on folding chairs that we bring with us. We are following all guidelines and wearing masks. As the weather cools, we will decide when it will be appropriate to worship inside the Meeting House.
We are delighted to have your family join PMFS and welcome you into our community of Friends.
In Peace,
Rebecca Cratin, Clerk of Plymouth Monthly Meeting
