Halloween Parade and Breakfast Next Week

Halloween is Wednesday, October 31. That means it’s nearly time to get your children in their costumes and head to school for the Halloween Parade!

The parade starts at 8:30 am, and you are invited to join us at the PTO Halloween Breakfast starting at 8:00 am, and continuing after the parade until 10:00 am. The breakfast will have hot coffee and spook-tacular treats cooked up by parents like you! If you haven’t already, click here to sign up to bring something tasty. Look forward to seeing you there!

Butterflies Visit the Fire Station

Last week the Butterfly class walked to the Harmonville Fire Station to visit Firefighter Rondo. The class had their interest piqued during Fire Safety Week, when they heard the siren from the fire station and saw firefighters on campus for fire drills. They figured the best way to learn more was to take a walk over and ask all their questions! They had a lot of fun exploring the fire station, looking at all the buttons and hoses on the trucks, and even got to sit inside to “drive” the fire engine!

Playground Playdate: Enjoying the Great Plymouth Outdoors Together

TODAY, October 25, 3:00-4:30 pm

Let’s meet on the playground, enjoy each other’s company while the kids frolic, and chat with any potential families who drop by, too. A low-stress way to get the word out, this event is a great way to get to know each other more and catch up. Drinks and snacks are on PMFS. See you there! 🙂

Announcing Color Day

Guess What?!  Thursday November 8, Parent-Teacher Conference Day, has been transformed into Color Day!

The first clue that something is newupon arrival, Kindergarten through Sixth Grade students will go directly to the gym instead of to their classrooms (Dragonflies and Butterflies will begin the day in their own classrooms, and will join in with the school activities at special parts of the day). While classroom teachers are meeting with YOU, Kindergarten through Sixth Grade students will be under the care of Admin and Specials teachers. The students will spend their day in eight mixed-age Color Pods and will engage in a variety of small-group and whole-school activities focused on our theme for the day, COMMUNITY (in the Quaker Testimonies, the “C” in S.P.I.C.E.S.).

The School Supply Drive Was a Big Success!

Thank you to everyone who donated school supplies for the Julia de Burgos Elementary School in Fairhill. We received this lovely note from the students:

Dear kids and parents at Plymouth Meeting Friends School,
We are happy that you sent us backpacks and school supplies. When our class comes to the library, we take back markers and colored pencils for our classroom.
You are very nice kids and parents at Plymouth Meeting to send this good stuff.

Your friends at Julia de Burgos School

Our next project for Building Bridges will be collecting children’s books for the Julia de Burgos School library. Contact Rebecca Heider to get involved.
