Third Graders Ready to Wow You at the Thanksgiving Program

Chimes, drums, boomwhackers, oh my! The students are shifting into high gear preparing for next week’s Thanksgiving concert. This year’s program involves a lot of moving parts, varied instrumentations, and a great deal of independent musical responsibility for each performer. As the performances come together, it’s wonderful to see each student’s confidence grow as they begin to take full ownership of their part of the puzzle. Come out and support your students in this challenging program they’ve put together for our community. And, with Nat King Cole, Rossini, and Santana on the program, where else will you hear this combination of music?!

Congratulations, PMFS Soccer Team!

Big Happenings in the Little House

What have the Dragonflies been up to? So far this month they have…

Met (and fallen in love with!) their First Grade reading buddies:

Baked muffin-shaped scones with Jacob and his dad, John:

And had a VERY exciting visit from Spencer the guinea pig:

Honey for Sale!

The Beekeeping Club has poured its harvest into jars, complete with handmade labels. This wonderful honey will be on sale at the Thanksgiving Program! Be sure to look for it, admire it, and purchase a jar! Our bees work hard right here on the PMFS campus, and our kids learn about them and help take care of them. And the Beekeepers all agree that this year’s honey is delicious!

Student Interest: Rocket Launch Tomorrow Morning

Wallops Island, VA, has a large rocket launch scheduled for 4:23 am on 11/16.  If the sky is clear, it should be visible for us in PA.  It is a ship delivering goods to the International Space Station. Let your budding astronauts know, unless you don’t want to wake up that early! Get more info here.

Wear your most fabulous pajamas, munch on popcorn and baked treats, do a little light crafting, and cozy up with everyone in the family, no matter how small, for this crowd-pleasing movie.  Additional details and order forms for the optional pizza dinner will be coming home in a couple weeks.

Query at Meeting For Worship

This morning at Meeting for Worship, Kindergarten asked us to consider:

What are you thankful for?

After a period of quiet reflection, students had a lot to say; their answers included, “I’m thankful for getting to come to this school,” “I’m thankful for my Christmas tree,” “I’m thankful for my family,” and “I’m thankful for doughnuts.”

Busy Beavers at Beyond the Bell

Some imaginative students made a fort out of wood they found scattered around campus. They worked together to design and build it, with very little help from teachers and staff. It’s now quite a popular spot to play!

Plymouth’s Peaceable Kingdom

For Color Day last week, Gillian conceived of this great all-school art project: she turned one of Edward Hicks’ Peaceable Kingdom paintings into a huge line drawing, cut that drawing up into squares, and had the students color each square as if it were a stand-alone piece. When Gillian put all the squares back together, a new work of art was revealed. Different individuals coming together to make a beautiful whole –what a perfect metaphor for community!
