Virtual Mandate from Montgomery County Office of Public Health

The MCOPH is mandating that all schools go virtual 11/23-12/4. This means that all PMFS students will be learning from home 11/23-11/24 and 11/30-12/4. Please see the email Brenda sent out this afternoon for more details.

Blasting Off in Pre-K

A few weeks ago, Pre-K students were building with blocks when they began creating a rocket ship. This led into a discussion of how rocket ships are built, what they are made of, and where they go. The class took this opportunity to learn about spaceships, space travel, and the solar system. They used a box to design and paint their own spaceship.

As they discussed space travel and the solar system, they came up with some questions to investigate. Questions ranged from “How does the rocket push upwards?” to “How are planets made?” and “What’s outside of space?” The class also had an impromptu lesson in the sandbox on the principles of gravity.

A Peek at Virtual Learning

From the start of the year, Third and Fourth Grade has had the largest number of virtual learners of any PMFS Pod. Each day the “Zoomers” work together with their classmates, as well as engage directly with one of their teachers. In these pictures they share drawings of Colonial American folk remedies for common illnesses.

Online Family Directory

You can access addresses, phone numbers, and emails of fellow parents online, for those times you leave the house without your Redbook rolled up in your bag (Redbook is coming home soon if you don’t already have it). From the homepage on pmfs1780.org, go to “Links” in the upper righthand corner of the homepage, then choose “Online Family Directory.” If you have any trouble logging in, let Maeve know and she’ll resend your account email.

Campus Stewardship Initiative

Every Saturday (at least until the weather turns), we’re inviting families to help with some outside jobs, like weeding and picking up sticks (or refreshing our Bug Hotel!). Come whenever you want on a Saturday or organize to meet other families here. Please remember to socially distance, and stay as long or as little as you like. Click here for details and to sign up. Thanks for helping keep our campus beautiful!
