Support the 5/6 Rainforest Sale on Wednesday, May 25th
For many years, PMFS has partnered with The Nature Conservancy to raise money for rainforest conservation. Over the years, we have bought dozens of acres, planted hundreds of trees, and raised awareness of the importance of conserving the environment. This year is no different! 5th and 6th graders are organizing a school wide sale. They will have cookies (home baked), smoothies, activities to participate in, jewelry, glitter jars for meditation, gently used toys and more! It is on Wednesday May 25th. It will be from 11:30 – 12:30. Please consider sending in change and dollar bills for your child to support the cause! Any questions, please contact a student from grade 5 or 6!
Soon-to-be-Alumni Luncheon
Sixth Graders were the guests of honor at the annual “Soon-to-be-Alumni” Luncheon today. For this special event, PMFS alumni who are about to graduate from high school are invited back to campus. They share their experiences of transitioning to middle school and answer Sixth Graders’ questions over a catered lunch, and everyone goes home with plenty of gifts.
This year’s alumni speakers were Hannah Barkat, who will be graduating from Penn Charter and attending Loyola University Maryland, and Sanaa Nicholson, who will be graduating from Abington Friends and attending Tufts University. They assured the Sixth Graders that it’s okay to cry on your graduation day, while getting them excited to make new friends and learn new things in middle school.
Strawberry Festival Corner
We are ready for 100% parent participation. We rely on YOU to bring the joy to this day, so please take a look NOW (no, not next week) at how you can be a part of things: Click here to find out how.
Get your T-shirts BEFORE the Festival (we only sell limited quantities at the festival, so we anticipate selling out). Order your Shortcake too while you’re at it! Click here to pre-order t-shirts (or use that form in your child’s Red Folder). Pre-orders will close on Monday, May 23.
To minimize money handling at Strawberry Festival, people will exchange cash for tickets to spend during the event. Order your Festival Tickets in advance to avoid waiting in line. Order forms were sent home in your child’s Red Folder today. Pre-orders will close on Tuesday, May 31.
Bring us your children’s books for our Free Children’s Book Swap at the Festival. Leave books in the Sand Shed (on the Blacktop at the upper campus), starting next week.
We’re not even going to ask you to write Saturday, June 4 on your calendars, because we knowwwww you did that already, right? Class performances begin at 10; the Festival begins at 11.
Welcome Natalie!
We are delighted to share that Natalie Coney will join the Plymouth Meeting Friends School community as Director of Development beginning July 1, 2022. Natalie is a Temple University graduate. Prior to that she worked as the Development Manager for the National Kidney Foundation and as Special Events Manager for the American Red Cross (SEPA).
