Grades 3-6 Visit Washington, DC

Grades 3-6 visited Washington, DC this week. A great time was had by all, and we’ll have more pictures and stories to share when they return!

Come out next Saturday, May 7 from 2-4 to celebrate the Visual and Performing Arts at PMFS!

We’ll have the opening of the school-wide art show in the Corson Lobby, live musical performances by students on lower campus, art demonstrations in the Art Studio, and dramatic performances by Kindergarten and 5th grade on lower campus!
It’s a celebration not to be missed and back to being in person!
Masks are required by families who attend, and we are keeping attendance to our school community and immediate family members. And of course it’s free to attend!

From Caterpillars to Butterflies

Young children are naturally curious, and exploring life cycles is a wonderful way to help our youngest friends begin to understand the world around them and connect with nature.  Within our Pre-K classrooms, the children are watching the metamorphosis of a Painted Lady butterfly up close.  The children in Journey’s End are observing, discussing and illustrating the daily changes they are noticing.

Upcoming JADE Meetings

Please save the first Wednesday of the month at 8 PM for JADE (Justice, Anti-Racism, Diversity and Equity) meetings.
  • This Wednesday, May 4, we will have a discussion with some of our 5th and 6th graders as they reflect on race, identity and their experiences on their trip to DC and the Harriet Tubman museum in Maryland.
  • On June 1, we’ll view a video made by members of Black Cultural Awareness at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School and talk about the experience of being black at a majority white school.
Both discussions will push us to develop specific plans and action steps to move towards change in our families, our immediate school community, and our broader communities.

All visitors should stop by the Main Office to sign in and receive a visitor sticker before moving on to their campus destination. This lets us know who is on campus in case of emergencies, and signals to the rest of the community that you are an official visitor.
