Reimagining Spring Traditions at PMFS

Traditions are meaningful and vital to PMFS and to our students and families, especially in these oh-so-unusual times. They ground us and they demonstrate some of the skills students have gained throughout the year; and they’re a lot of fun too! PMFS staff have been working hard to reimagine and retool Spring events at the heart of our program. We invite you to save the date for our upcoming events, including:

  • Friday, May 7, 7pm – Pod 3/4 Circus, via Facebook Live
  • Friday, May 21, 7pm – ArtsFest, via Facebook Live
  • Friday, June 4 & Saturday, June 5 – 6th Grade Performance – more details to come
  • In lieu of our beloved Strawberry Festival, the PTO is marking this occasion with treats and t-shirts for all the kids. Each year one design is chosen from the many that students propose for the festival t-shirt and 2021 will be no exception! Please help your PTO t-shirt organizers: fill out this form indicating your child’s t-shirt size!

Coming in 2 Weeks: The Circus

This year’s Pod 3/4 Circus will be held virtually on Friday, May 7 at 7pm. A throwback to the 1970’s kid-run show, the students in Pod 3/4 also run this show. They’ve learned skills and created skits, all designed to be recorded this year. Students have used classrooms, the blacktop, PMFS outdoor spaces, and their own neighborhoods as backdrops for their recordings. Don’t miss this unique opportunity (yes, there WILL be unicycling)!

Join us on Facebook Live for Zoom on Zoom!

What’s going on here?  Tune in to the circus to find out.

Help Create Magical Moments at PMFS

Every year at Plymouth Meeting Friends School features magical momentsThis year, it is genuinely impossible to overstate the challenges that the Plymouth community has faced and valiantly overcome. In the 2020/2021 school year, magical moments at Plymouth Meeting Friends are everywhere!

Whether seeing smiles under masks from arriving students, watching unicyclists practice on the blacktop and online for their upcoming “Zoom on Zoom” circus, or hearing kids laughing at play, Plymouth’s everyday magic continues to happen all around us. It isn’t accidental. Despite formidable pandemic obstacles, PMFS teachers and staff successfully have created an innovative and caring educational experience that honors the needs of Plymouth families. Offering an option of in-person or virtual learning, our educators developed an exceptional educational environment that allowed students to excel, remain connected with their classmates, and feel safe.  There is no way to adequately capture the astounding effort put forth by our teachers to make that happen.

This has been a remarkable year at Plymouth Meeting Friends School.  Please join others who have already supported the school and make a contribution today by clicking here

Together, we’ll continue to make the magic happen this year and for many years to come.

Brenda presents at FCE Annual Meeting

Friends Council on Education (FCE) celebrated its 90th anniversary during the 2021 Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 22. As the only national organization of Friends schools, Friends Council on Education is in a unique position to be a public voice for Friends education. PMFS Head Brenda Crawley joined a panel of heads of color from Friends schools to discuss: their leadership journeys; school leadership in Quaker schools; and what they hope and imagine for the future of Quaker education.
