Spring has Sprung!

Spring is here on the PMFS campus! Flowers are blooming, and our 5/6 pod was able to take advantage of the warm weather with an outdoor math lesson.

Kindergarten Drama with Christy

In Drama with Kindergarten, students are exploring using their bodies to characterize objects. When asked to demonstrate what they thought an egg looked like, this fantastic expression emerged.

Coming soon to PMFS: Elementary Student Diversity Day

Titled “Upstanders: Speak Up, Speak Out,” this virtual event will give children in grades 3 through 6 the chance to explore issues of diversity while learning how to be advocates in the work for social justice. Students will participate in live and recorded activities and leave the event with new skills for being anti-racists in their communities. PMFS 3rd – 6th graders will join students from local independent schools, as well as students from Colegio Williams in Cuernavaca (PMFS’ partner school for the Mexican Exchange Program), for this event.

PMFS is hosting the annual Elementary Student Diversity Day organized by the Greater Philadelphia Diversity Collaborative (GPDC). GPDC includes heads of school, administrators, and teachers from small schools in the Philadelphia region. As the GPDC website says, ” Independent elementary and middle schools face unique challenges and opportunities when it comes to creating developmentally appropriate diversity experiences for our students and fostering dialogue among parents and staff about diversity-related topics.”

Visit the PMFS Online Bookshop

Have you checked the PMFS Online Bookshop?  New reading suggestions have been added for each grade. Get started with filling your child’s bookshelf for the summer!  Any book can be purchased through Bookshop.org (not just the PMFS suggestions) and every purchase supports PMFS and the Children’s Book World in Haverford.
