The following technology may be used by teachers and students as they settle into remote learning.

Help your child find a quiet place to work before they begin class each day. All students will need access to the internet to do at least part of their work; if your family requires assistance with access to a device, contact us so that we can make arrangements with you. Your child may need a lot of support as they learn different remote platforms, and parents may, too.

Google Classroom (Grades 5 & 6)

Google Classroom is a free web service, that simplifies creating, distributing, and grading assignments in a paperless way. The primary purposes of Google Classroom are to streamline the process of sharing files, to boost collaboration, and to foster communication between teachers and students. Teachers can create classes, distribute assignments, send feedback, and see everything in one place. Classroom seamlessly integrates with other Google tools like Google Docs and Drive.

Teachers in grades 5-6 are sending invitations to their students.

Loom is a platform that some teachers will use to send videos embedded in emails. You don’t need an account to watch the videos teachers send, but if you’d like to create videos yourself, you can use the links below.

Seesaw (Specials, Pre-k – 4th Grade)
Seesaw is a website and app that allows teachers to post assignments for their students in the form of videos, pictures, or text. Students upload their completed assignments (also as videos, pictures, or text), and teachers provide feedback. All Specials teachers (Art, Library & Tech, Music & Drama, Phys Ed, Science, and Spanish) and some classroom teachers will be using Seesaw. In addition to regular assignments, Specials teachers will be providing a variety of supplemental activities that students may choose from if families want more instructional time.

Zoom is a platform for live video conferencing. Many teachers use Zoom for Morning Meetings and synchronous class work. Some Zoom sessions between students and teachers will be recorded and archived in Drive (link coming soon) for students to reference later if they wish.

PMFS also uses Zoom for Meeting for Worship at 9:00 on Thursdays. Check your email or Drive folder for the link.
Families may sign up for a free Zoom account to connect with each other virtually.
