Dear Friends in the PMFS Community,

I am writing to share an update regarding our plan for transitioning to a new Head of School. As you know, the original plan was for Sarah to serve one more year, and leave PMFS at the end of the 2018/19 academic year. Since then, some attractive opportunities that begin next year have emerged. Sarah has given her heart and soul to PMFS over the past six years, and in honor of her efforts, the School Committee has reached clearness to release her, with appreciation, to pursue those opportunities and to leave Plymouth at the end of this school year.

Accordingly, we are now in the process of identifying an Interim Head for 2018/19. Highly-qualified candidates are being interviewed, and we expect to make an announcement to the community in the coming weeks. We look forward to selecting a proven leader who will work with our faculty, administration, families, and School Committee to maintain and support all that we love about Plymouth, while preparing for our next Head of School.

Please join us in wishing Sarah well as she takes this next step on her journey. We look forward to publicly thanking her in the coming months.

If you have any questions about our transition plan, please feel free to be in touch with me, or with any of the other members of the Executive Committee.

Faithfully yours,

Dear PMFS families,

When I shared the news with my kids that I would be leaving Plymouth, my youngest said, “You mean you won’t be there forever?” I love that my kids have seen my role at PMFS as an important link for them to this community””to the place where they first discovered who they are.

What I told them is that I have learned that you can absolutely love a place, and a time, and still know when it’s time to go. This is that time for me.

I will take Plymouth with me, just as my kids and all of our alums do, and all that I have learned about myself and been a part of supporting here. I have the same fierce faith in this community that all of you do, and I know that the Plymouth spirit is strong, as it has been through all of its long history, and changes along the way.

I look forward with excitement for my next steps, and am confident in the next steps for PMFS as well. I am grateful to the remarkable students, faculty and staff, families, meeting, and school committee who together make us who we are.

Thank you for all you do to support this wonderful community.

Warmly,

Sarah
