Plymouth Meeting Friends School offers a before- and after-school program to provide a low-key, safe, and fun environment for children during non-school hours.

Early morning care is provided before classrooms open, 7:30 – 7:45 am for Kindergarten through Sixth Grade, and 7:30 – 8:00 am for Early Childhood students. The program is based in the school’s Journey’s End building. There is no fee for this service.

The PMFS Extended Day (Ex-Day) program (3:00 – 6:00 pm weekdays) is designed to provide children across all grades with an unstructured after-school experience, similar to living in a community with a big backyard and many neighbors with whom to play. The program includes an afternoon snack, pick-up games of soccer and basketball, craft making, board games, fort building, nature play, and free play. There is also a period of supervised homework and optional specialty classes, with three class and enrollment cycles per school year.

Ex-Day is available on a regular full-time (five days) and regular part-time basis. Fees are paid by trimester, three times a year. Children may also attend on an occasional drop-in basis; payment must be made on the day of service.

2017-18 Extended Day Rates

The cost of occasional extended day care after school is $23 per child per afternoon. The cost of Vacation Care is $42 per day, provided children are signed up and paid for in advance. There is a 10% discount for the cost of vacation care for the second child in the family.

Please note: The fees listed here are for the full year. Fees correspond with the number of days of care in each trimester.

Additional After School Options

The school also offers a number of structured after school activities. These may be attended as either stand-alone activities or in conjunction with the regular Ex-Day program. A student does not need to be enrolled in Ex-Day to enroll in a class.

There is a fee scale for each class as a stand-alone option or in combination with the regular extended day program. Classes offered in the past include basketball, soccer, mixed sports, yoga, science, ceramics, and beekeeping.

Some PMFS arts teachers are available for private lessons. Contact the Main Office to see who is available during a trimester.

Vacation Care

Vacation Care is offered on some school holidays, professional development days, and during parts of winter and spring break. On days it is open, Vacation Care is available 8:00 am – 6:00 pm and based in the Journey’s End building.

Similar to Ex-Day, Vacation Care provides non-structured, supervised playtime, indoors and out, in a multi-age grouping. Morning snack is provided; children bring their own lunch and an afternoon snack.
