Strategic Plan “” Mid-Point Report, Fall 2017
The 2017-18 school year is the third year of PMFS’ five-year strategic plan, DISCOVER 2020. The name Discover 2020 is derived from exciting elements of the plan that involve emphasizing and strengthening PMFS program as one that centers on inquiry and discovery, as well as the elements within the plan that allow for increased discovery of PMFS by the broader community through increased outreach and communication. Each one of the four goals contains elements that are strategically designed to build enrollment and strengthen retention, which are vital to the long term stability of the school.
DISCOVER 2020 serves as a living document that is guiding us through five years on a path of growth and sustainability. Discover 2020 initiatives are guiding facility renovations, evolving administrative structure, professional development, outreach, admission and communication work, as well as curriculum oversight
and revision. This report outlines achievements and activity in 2015-16 and 2016-17, as well as goals for 2017-18.

Announcing Our Strategic Plan “” Fall 2015
Dear PMFS Community,
I’m pleased to share with you the outline of Discover 2020, the five-year strategic plan for the strong and vibrant future of Plymouth Meeting Friends School.PMFS_StrategicBrochureFall2015_online70066
This plan is the result of an inclusive process over the course of the 2014-2015 school year – an inspired and evolving process which was designed by our Strategic Planning Steering Committee and guided by consultant and good friend of the school Ginny Christensen of Strategy for Growth.
Our plan is remarkable for a couple of reasons. First, there was a very strong and clear congruence of affirmation and belief in the power of the PMFS experience from all constituencies. Alumni parents, current parents, faculty and staff, Meeting members, retired faculty, colleagues from peer institutions, and young and older alumni spoke movingly of lives having been shaped in lasting ways by the impact of children coming to know themselves and their place in the world through their PMFS education. Second, we noted a clear congruence in hopes and goals for the strongest and best future for the school, which resulted in a detailed and focused five-year plan.
The name Discover 2020 is derived from exciting elements of the plan encompassing the PMFS program as one that centers on inquiry and discovery, emphasizes development of critical thinking skills and self-motivated learning, and includes our beautiful outdoor learning and play spaces.
Certain goals and initiatives are being taken up now by staff, faculty, and School Committee groups; for other areas, the school will shortly be forming new committees. There are ample opportunities for members of the PMFS community to join this joyful work for the school’s best future. Stay tuned to the school’s weekly e-newsletter and printed newsletter for updates and invitations to get involved.
Warm gratitude to all who helped to shape this plan with your insights and inspired thinking, and your engaged hearts and minds that are so much a part of the power of PMFS.
